If Science Could Create Beasts: Suggestions for labour-saving animals.

Professor Ostwald of Leipzig University, is of the opinion that before very many years have passed science will be in a position to create a form of life as advanced as that of our domestic animals.  "Why not then," he asks, "create forms of animal life capable of doing many of the things which only human beings can do to-day?  By specialising, it may be possible, for instance, to create a type of animal capable of doing the heavy work of the world - creatures of vast physical strength coupled with a higher form of intelligence than has been ivolved as yet in any animal excepting man."
